The current definitive reference on EMT-Basic curriculum content is The Emergency Medical Technician-Basic National Standard Curriculum. It is published by The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. (I know, it’s a mouthful.)

If you’re looking to find a complete reference to the objectives the National Registry is looking for in each subject area, The National Standard Curriculum is a good place to start.

You may have heard that The National Registry is transitioning all of their existing certification levels to new levels. Some certifications will changes names. Others will see additions and changes in skills and acts allowed. Every current National Registry certification will see changes on some level.

This transition of curriculum and training will be complicated and take years to complete. There are still many unanswered questions.
